The Things Revealed

A number of weeks back I woke up to a mysterious message in my e-mail inbox. It directed me to another site where I would receive a code so that I could unlock some sort of mystery. Use that code to get at a secret message that I only would be able to access. I felt like I was in a James Bond movie scene, and soon Miss Moneypenny would appear. She is the secretary to M, James Bond’s boss who is the head of the British Secret Service.

So, I clicked on the e-mail, got my instructions, submitted the provided clandestine code and received the message that was intended only for me. I am Mari from Holland, MI. I live in a small town. I do not have a side hustle in espionage. I had no idea there were even approaches like this you could take to get a message to someone without leaving a trace of evidence.

There are times in our lives that finding the hidden key to the cure for cancer, or Parkinson’s, or ALS, or a host of other very debilitating illnesses that are affecting those we love would be exciting. Most of us, I would think, would keep following the instructions that would get us to the end–the answer.

In Deuteronomy 29:29 Moses writes, “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.”

Things are well with Chris right now. He is enjoying summer. We are getting outdoors–biking and golfing, laying by the pool, enjoying a few days of a Staycation with our 8-year-old granddaughter. We have enjoyed fresh sweet corn and have learned a new corn salad recipe. Each day of the summer sun and heat are precious as the fall temperatures will slowly creep in. We are living each day, but we are still on a hunt for the hidden treasure that might unlock his ability to speak better and for others to understand precisely what he says.

We want that e-mail to pop into our inbox. We want that mysterious code to be shared so we can unlock that vault of knowledge–that treasure. God calls us though to be the pursuer. God instructs us in Jeremiah 33:3 to, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

While we wait for the instructions we so want to receive, we also have to be pursuing these hidden treasures. We thank you for continuing to pray for a breakthrough. We are confident that God wants us to know how to get to where we need to be. How beautiful are the words, “but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever.”
